Environmental Impact

The Alexandria Plating Industries, Inc. team  hasformed  a comprehensive plan of green initiatives. These initiatives, addressing virtually all aspects of our business practices from corporate offices to facility floor to storage rooms, are core to our philosophy or operating an innovative, certified and technology-driven company. We work with independent consultants and the EPA on an ongoing basis to reduce waste headed to landfills, recycle products and materials and improve asset recovery.

As a top U.S. plating company, we are committed to returning water to the environment cleaner than when it came to our facility. Our  state of the art system was designed specifically to meet our specific electroplating, anodizing and other chemical processes, and is therefore capable of continuous operation twenty four hours a day. This system allows us to treat several different types of waste streams at one time, thus allowing many different processes to coexist in one job shop and dedicated lines operation.

The metals in the rinse water are precipitated out, and then dewatered through a filter press producing metal hydroxide sludge. Metal hydroxide sludge has become the main waste that Alexandria Plating Industries, Inc. produces, and by using the latest technology we are able to have that material recycled. Water treatment is monitored by our chemistry department, using the state of the art ICP and Cyanide detection systems to ensure we are in-compliance with rules and regulations set by our local and federal regulators. The water treatment operators are well trained, and continue to update their knowledge as the waste industry becomes more advanced.

It is our mission to continue to provide and environmentally safe work place for our employee’s and for the community.

RoHS COMPLIANT

Alexandria Plating Industries, Inc. now provides RoHS compliant services for all metal plating processes. The definition and aim of the RoHS directive is quite simple. The RoHS directive aims to restrict certain dangerous substances commonly used in electronic and electronic equipment. Any RoHS compliant

component is tested for the presence of Lead (Pb), Cadmium (Cd), Mercury (Hg), Hexavalent chromium (Hex-Cr), Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), and Polybrominateddiphenyl ethers (PBDE). For Cadmium and Hexavalent chromium, there must be less than 0.01% of the substance by weight at raw homogeneous materials level. For Lead, PBB, and PBDE, there must be no more than 0.1% of the material, when calculated by weight at raw homogeneous materials. Any RoHS compliant component must have 100 ppm or less of mercury and the mercury must not have been intentionally added to the component. Some military and medical equipment may be exempt from RoHS compliance.

Please identify your need for RoHS compliance on your orders and we will likewise note compliance on our material certification. Such certification will be stamped to identify the products as RoHS compliant.

Quality is Longevity!

Our QC capabilities include ANSI/ASQC Z1.4, Fischerscope, Permascope X-Ray Flourescence, Computerized Controllers, Atomic Absorption, Salt Spray and Wet Laboratories.
